1. What to Expect
Snow tubing is a fun winter activity that is similar to sledding, but you slide down a groomed ski slope in a tube! One of the best parts about snow tubing at Ober Gatlinburg is that you don’t even have to walk back up the slope after each run. Instead, you simply take the “Magic Carpet” outdoor escalator back to the top of the hill so there is no hill climbing involved at all! All of the snow tubing sessions at Ober Gatlinburg are 90 minutes each, so you can tube all you want within that time frame! Snow tubing opens for the season on November 17.
2. How to Purchase Tickets
Snow tubing tickets can be purchased in downtown Gatlinburg at the Tramway Mall “Will Call” booth and at the Snow Tubing ticket office on the mountain, or you can buy your tickets online. Note that children ages 3 and 4 are admitted for free with a paying adult for each child. Keep in mind that the tickets are non-transferable and not for resale, so be sure that you can attend your session!
3. Restrictions and Other Helpful Information
Anyone participating in snow tubing at Ober Gatlinburg must be at least 6 years old and 42 inches tall to ride solo. Children who are ages 3 to 5 must ride with an adult, and children under 3 are not permitted to ride. Note that there is a high demand for tubing and there may be a large number of guests on weekends and holiday periods, resulting in possible wait times of 2 or more hours via the Aerial Tramway or parking on the mountain. If you are planning on tubing during these busy periods, schedule your time accordingly to allow for any delays so that you don’t miss your tubing session!
