Gatlinburg SkyLift Park has recently opened the Tulip Tower, one of the highlights of the new SkyTrail that takes you on a scenic walkway through the mountains! The tower is a 70 foot, steel structure that offers four elevated viewing platforms with incredible views of the Smokies. You won’t want to miss this attraction during your Smoky Mountain vacation! Here are the top 4 things to know about the Tulip Tower at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park:
1. What to Expect
The Tulip Tower is a unique observation tower that is set back in a ravine behind the SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America! You can enjoy stunning views from each of the four platforms, so be sure to climb to each level for a different perspective! There is also a special story behind the theme of the tower, which you can learn about with information on each level. Part of the adventure is just getting to the tower itself, because it can only be reached by a pair of rope bridges!
2. Hours of Operation
The Tulip Tower is only accessible during the daylight hours of operation at the SkyLift Park, but you can stick around at night to enjoy everything else that the park has to offer! The park is generally open 7 days a week, with the exception of Christmas Day and Maintenance Week during the winter. When planning your vacation, be sure to check the official hours for the theme park for the current operating hours as they do vary by season!
3. Ticket Information
Tickets to the SkyLift Park include the Tulip Tower and the rest of the SkyTrail, SkyDeck, SkyCenter, SkyBridge and all day access up and down the mountain via the SkyLift! This means that you can come during the daylight hours to check out the Tulip Tower, then return at night to experience the lights of downtown Gatlinburg from the SkyBridge! If you purchase or redeem your tickets after 8 PM, you’ll receive SkyLift Park access for the next day until closing time!
4. Other Highlights of the SkyTrail
The Tulip Tower is just one of the highlights of the Gatlinburg SkyTrail, which connects each end of the SkyBridge with a scenic walkway. The Elevated Boardwalk section is a wooden walkway that leads back along the hillside of the ravine and features interactive signage with information about the engineering of the SkyBridge, the history of the SkyLift and the wildfires of 2016. The Path is the non-boardwalk section of the trail that cuts into the natural hillside, extending from the Tulip Tower across to the west end of the SkyBridge. While walking along this portion of the SkyTrail, you’ll experience magnificent views of the Smokies with every step!
